What is INCOSE?

The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) is a not-for-profit membership organization founded to develop and disseminate the interdisciplinary principles and practices that enable the realization of successful systems.

About INCOSE San Diego

INCOSE San Diego is part of INCOSE’s Region II geographical division and serves as a hub for approximately 230 professionals from industries such as aerospace, defense, transportation, medical devices, and telecommunications. The chapter is dedicated to advancing the understanding, development, and application of world-class systems engineering in alignment with INCOSE’s global mission, and to support the strong systems engineering community in San Diego.

We offer members opportunities to connect with fellow systems engineers, exchange practical insights, and learn from real-world applications. Our chapter welcomes individuals from all disciplines involved in systems development and encourages active participation in our local events.

Our mission includes promoting career development through education, training, and increased awareness of systems engineering practices. Recognized for excellence, the San Diego chapter has earned the prestigious Platinum rating for seven consecutive years – the highest chapter rating possible – and was honored with the INCOSE President’s Award for Outstanding Chapter in both 2018 and 2023.

Message From The President!

Welcome to a new year of systems thinking and community building within the INCOSE San Diego Chapter. As we look back, I’m proud of our accomplishments — growing our membership, creating industry partnerships, and elevating the visibility of systems engineering across our region. Your participation made these achievements possible.

Looking ahead, our strategic goals are clear:

- Deepen professional development opportunities through targeted events and certification support
- Grow our membership and broaden engagement across sectors
- Strengthen collaboration with academic, government, and industry partners
- Advance systems engineering advocacy within the broader STEM ecosystem

To achieve this, we need your voice and energy. Whether you volunteer for a committee, present at a meeting, mentor emerging professionals, or simply bring a colleague to an event, your involvement shapes the vitality of our chapter.

As systems engineers, we know complex challenges demand thoughtful integration. I’m reminded of a fitting insight from Donella Meadows: “We can’t impose our will on a system. We can listen to what the system tells us and discover how its properties and our values can work together to bring forth something much better than could ever be produced by our will alone.”

Let’s make this a year of purposeful connection and collective impact.
