Wednesday Lunchtime 2022 Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) Certification Group Study ‘Cohort’ Session

WELCOME!
The LA and San Diego chapters are hosting independent group study (‘cohorts’) sessions for INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification this Spring.
This registration page is for the Wednesday lunchtime Cohort, starting Wednesday, April 20th. This Cohort will meet between 12 noon and 1:30pm Pacific Time.
This Cohort is primarily hosted by the San Diego chapter of INCOSE.
These will be collaborative, VIRTUAL weekly meetings, where the ‘cohorts’ (students) meet to discuss and present on the INCOSE Handbook, Version 4. Note that the handbook is the basis for the SEP test.

What is Systems Engineering Professional certification? Certification is a formal process whereby a community of knowledgeable, experienced, and skilled representatives of an organization, such as INCOSE, provides confirmation of an individual’s competency (demonstrated knowledge, education, and experience) in a specified profession. Certification differs from licensing in that licenses are permissions granted by a government entity for a person to practice within its regulatory boundaries. Certification also differs from a “certificate” that documents the successful completion of a training or education program. There are three types of INCOSE SEP certification: ASEP, CSEP, and ESEP. What is the Systems Engineering Professional test? The SEP test is a 2-hour exam designed to test your knowledge of INCOSE systems engineering practices and processes. Please read more here.
Important Information:
- The Cohort is 15 weeks long and meets once a week. Expect each session to last 1.5 hours.
- This Cohort is for the lunchtime sessions, 12 noon – 1:30pm, Pacific Time, and starts on April 20th, 2022.
- We will also offer an evening Cohort on Thursday evenings, from 7pm – 8:30pm, if that better suits your schedule. You may instead register for it here, or, you may register for both of the Cohorts. Both have the same schedule.
- Cost: FREE. However, in order to foster team cohesion and moral, we ask that you attend ALL the Cohort sessions. If you must miss a session, you are welcome to join the Thursday evening Cohort’s session that week to make it up.
- The Cohorts are mostly student-run training sessions. There will be approximately two Cohort team leaders that will provide the introductions, schedule, and the Zoom sessions and resolve any roadblocks, but the students will present. Each student are expected to present a section of the INCOSE Handbook section to the team.

Below are the details of the 15-Week Lunchtime Cohort Session:
Dates and Times: April 20 – July 27, 2022.
Format: Each cohort is assigned one INCOSE Handbook topic area. If many sign up, then multiple cohorts will be assigned to the same area. Each week, a cohort 2-person team will present their assignment. Slides of their presentation will be uploaded to the common document repository no later than 24 hours beforehand (e.g., Tuesday at noon).
Please Note – Students will be responsible for reading Chapter 2, Systems Engineering Overview BEFORE the class.

What Students Will Need:
- A copy of the INCOSE Handbook Version 4.0. Either e-book or printed; however, students may find a printed version very helpful. (Getting the Handbook – download or order from the INCOSE store. This e-book is free for INCOSE members.)
- Ability to log in and participate in the weekly Zoom sessions.
- A strong desire to take and pass the INCOSE SEP test!
