Timm J. Esque on CBPM: An Agile Approach for Non-Software Projects

Abstract: Agile scrum is popular for a reason – there are benefits for all the stakeholders. Yet jumping to Agile scrum is not the right answer for every project environment. Commitment-based Project Management (CBPM) evolved in non-scrum environments to address very similar benefits: responsiveness, team engagement, quality throughout a project, productivity, etc. It is a domain agnostic (applying to all types of projects) answer to the challenges of the turbulent, global marketplace.

CBPM has its roots in Speech Act Theory and Human Performance Technology. It has been proven to produce significant performance improvements. Project managers say it is liberating. Team members say it gives them a greater sense of control. Come learn about this rapidly emerging practice including where it comes from and how it is different from typical project management.
