This meeting will be hosted at two locations. Dr. David Jacobs will be giving the presentation at ViaSat in Carlsbad for those of you who wish to attend there. The INCOSE Board of Directors will be hosting a remote site at our normal meeting location, which is Giovanni’s restaurant. Topic: “Evolving Systems Engineering Design from Single Function Products to Systems-of-Systems and Service Based Capabilities” The talk will include a brief synopsis of the history of ViaSat as well as a discussion of the company’s growth into complex system-of-system architectures and designs.
Speaker: Dr. David Jacobs has been a systems engineer at ViaSat for 15 years. He has worked both commercial and defense related programs and projects. Some include satellite based broadband connectivity to airliners (Jetblue, Virgin America, United), home based satellite internet systems (Exede), and Fighter Jet tactical data links including software defined radio systems (Link 16, MIDS and MIDS JTRS).
Directions to ViaSat: ViaSat is near the SW corner of Palomar Airport Road and El Camino Real in Carlsbad (one south of Lowes). The meeting is in building 1, Multi-purpose conference room. Building 1 entrance is in center of building and faces El Camino Real (and has flags near entrance). The conference room is just inside past security. We will allow people to check through into conference room.
Driving from Highway 5, exit on Palomar Airport road and go east for approx. 4-5 miles. Turn South on El Camino Real. Pass by Lowes side entrance thru the next light (which is a pedestrian crossing) and turn in to the right. Building 1 will be on your immediate right again. Park anywhere in front.
If you are coming up from the south on El Camino Real, do a U-turn at Palomar Airport road.
