The Guide for Writing Requirements Tutorial: April 8-29

Well formed requirements are essential to the success of projects. When requirements are text-based, however, few people have the skill required to produce quality requirements. This is true in part because, until now, there hasn’t been a reference guide to aid them in the effort. The International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Requirements Working Group has created “The Guide for Writing Requirements” and is presenting a series of webinars to help understand how to use it. This guide provides the author with characteristics of good requirements and the rules that help authors write requirements with those characteristics. It also provides examples to help understand the intent better. This four-part tutorial, taught by Rick Zinni, Co-chair of the INCOSE Requirements Working Group, Program Director INCOSE Finger Lakes Chapter, and Principal Systems Engineer for Harris Corporation; RF Communications Division, discusses the contents of the guide and walks through the process of correcting poorly written requirements in order to acclimate authors on how to use this great resource. A Certificate of Completion is available on request.
