MARCH 3-7 HSI WORKSHOP IN LA, MARCH 11-12 COGNITIVE SE WORKSHOP IN SAN DIEGO OFFERED BY COGNITIVE SYSTEMS DESIGN

Note: INCOSE San Diego is providing this announcement for informational purposes to INCOSE members who may be interested in attending. INCOSE SD does not specifically endorse any products or tools being discussed at this event.

Gavin Lintern (INCOSE Member, Human Factors & Ergonomics Society Fellow) at Cognitive Systems Design is offering a workshop on Human Systems Integration in Los Angeles from 03-07 March 2014 and another on Cognitive Systems Engineering in San Diego from March 11-12, 2014.

Cognitive Systems Engineering  2-day Workshop in San Diego: [Direct link for San Diego Workshop]

The first day of the workshop involves an in-depth discussion of cognitive task analysis and its methods from the perspective of naturalistic decision-making. Topics to be discussed include individual and team cognition, and macro-cognition as they relate to decision making and planning.

The second day covers the more general cognitive systems engineering topics of cognitive assessment, cognitive design, return on investment, risk perception and design of future cognitive systems.

Human Systems Integration 5-day Workshop in Los Angeles: [Direct link for Los Angeles workshop]

Human Systems Integration is a Systems Engineering strategy that enhances system performance by integrating technical functions of subsystems with human work processes those technical functions need to support. It is an essential process within the design and development of complex, socio-technical enterprises.

This workshop focusses on the cognitive aspects of Human Systems Integration and introduces delegates to powerful methods of cognitive analysis and cognitive modeling. The final two days of the workshop are devoted to describing how these analysis and modeling tools can be applied to human systems integration within system design, development and acquisition. Delegates spend approximately half of their workshop time on exercises that give them experience in the use of the analysis and modeling tools.

Brief descriptions of the workshops are available from the workshops page of the Cognitive Systems Design website (under Upcoming Workshops, right hand column).
