Frank Alvidrez on Practical DoDAF for System Engineers and Program Management

Abstract: In this one-day session, the student is introduced to the practical application of the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF). Attendees will walk away with a deeper understanding of:

  • The system of systems engineering process
  • Advanced modeling techniques (UML, SysML)
  • The use of architectures in NetCentric operations and planning
  • Hands on exposure to DoDAF using Magic Draw

This session is presented from the practical user’s perspective which covers the following:

  1. The origins of the DoDAF
  2. The governance of DoDAF
  3. Architecture sources, how to keep up with and where to go to obtain more DoDAF information
  4. Practical examples of DoDAF
  5. How to tailor work products
  6. How to meet the requirements of interoperability using integrated architectures and practical use of models of architectures

About the Presenter: Frank Alvidrez is a Certified DoDAF Enterprise Architect who is currently working at Edwards Air Force Base as a Sr. Flight Test Engineer in Electronic Warfare. In addition he is consulting with the NASA Ames Constellation Project. He specializes in advanced architecture techniques and their applications to research and development projects. He currently supports a number of major Aerospace companies in Program Management, Enterprise Architectures, NetCentric Data Strategy, Semantic Technologies and DoDAF Training.
